Plum Organics: baking purpose into business

Really great things happen when businesses are purpose driven, however sometimes—even when purpose is clearly identified—some businesses are still lead by traditional business components with the thinking that it is the only way to achieve business success.

Such was the case with Plum Organics—a company whose (powerful) purpose is to nourish children from their very first bite—who were initially driven solely by product development, product manufacture and product distribution. However, once they started baking their purpose into all areas of their business—from product development to marketing communications—the effect was profound.

According to Co-Founder, Neil Grimmer, “We found that the growth and the profitability—all those typical metrics for business—were starting to happen, and it was because we never took our eye off the ball on the purpose of what we were in business for.”
